It's official: Nintendo DS debuts November 21st at $149.99
This just crossed the wires moments ago (occasionally insomnia has its plus side): the double-screened Nintendo DS portable game console hits retail stores on November 21st (just in time for you-know-what) and is going to sell for $149.99, which is about fifty bucks less than we'd expected. Even better, for once we'll get it before the Japanese—it goes on sale there a few days later on December 2nd. Other juiciness: it'll come with a software app called PictoChat which'll write you draw pictures and write messages with an on-screen keyboard and wireless beam them to other DS users. They'll have 20 titles initially available, and as mentioned before, the DS will be backwards-compatible with Game Boy Advance SP games.

Insomnia does have its good sides...
The possibilities of widespread beaming in classrooms has just dawned on me. Whoa buddy, Miss Kevlaski (random teacher name) is doomed come the arrival of the DS!

Woo! I wonder if you'll still be able to link it up to a Gamecube? Would kind of suck if you had to keep old GBAs around just to play Four Swords...

What's up with the old school pic?
BPM @ Dec 18th 2005 9:50PM
By "Old school pic", do you mean the E demo version of the DS? If so, that isn't that. That IS the new model of the DS, it's just that is is now silver around the bottom screen, instead of black (looks a bit odd, though).
Also, it has been reported the DS will be bundled with a multiplayer-only demo version of Metroid Prime Hunters called Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt.

Though the Nintendo DS will play game boy advance games (in first player only, mind you), the Nintendo DS is NOT a game boy! so you may want to keep your Game boy advance to play with your Game Cube!

if u mean instant messege any other DS do u mean like anywhere in the US like chat? or 20 ft away. i really want to know if its like yahoo messeging

I know that somehow I'm probably wrong but I read somewhere that the DS can send 7mbps over 15-20ish feet or you can change it to 1mbps over a longer distance...and the DS isn't going to be good for lefties...according to a review, Metroid prime requires you to use the D-pad while using the 'pen' for the touch screen in the other hand...

Nintendo DS and GBA Flash Card compatibility has been tested so now you can play GB COLOR roms on DS but they will have to be emulated from a gba flash... http://www.gameboy-advance.net/nintendo_ds/
