Nintendo said yesterday that they expect to
have just one million DS units available in the US before Christmas. Given the hype and timing for the new
dual-screen handheld, we fully expect to see some big-time shortages, mom-on-mom catfights, and millions of
disappointed kids come December 25th. Saying that a shortage can be a good thing, senior vice president of
Nintendo George Harrison thinks that the "Cabbage Patch Doll syndrome" laced with "consumer interest and fury" is good
for business. We'll be revisiting this in the coming weeks just to see how much the things are going for on eBay
as the buy-my-kid-whatever-the-heck-he-wants season approaches.
Nintendo DS Shortage for Christmas could generate this year's bizarre toy store aisle fight videos

Sorry, but I have to agree. A MILF-on-MILF cat fight has got to be the hottest thing I can imagine.
I think someone should start the MILF Wrestling Federation.

It's pretty obvious that many people are more excited about the DS than the PSP. There is TONS more hype about the DS. With the shortage, the DS will probably sell like blueberry-flavored hotcakes when the next batch comes out. In this year's holiday season, I'll bet you every one of those 1 million DSes will be sold. And every person who does not receive one will be angry and will be hoping that they'll get one before they go nuts. I already reserved a DS, so I know I'll be getting one no matter what. Let's see the PSP top that.
Oh, and here's an interesting little tidbit; the DS will launch with 10 to 12 games...most of them having HUGE hype. The PSP will release around...5 games. The PS2 may have more games than the GameCube, but the DS is being supported a lot more than the PSP. I can see another challenger is going to fail against Nintendo's handheld magic. (And I personally think Nintendo may win the next console war, as well. They always have something new up their sleeves...)

Woah,
Instresting story.
Just imagine people who put up a DS on ebay at that time.
It could go for like five times what its worth.
That'll surely be intresting,
Though PSP is the one for me.
Check out our site on it.
Im sure PSP will not a have a sortage of any type.
They will Kill.
Do doubts.

Naturally the PSP won't have a shortage... because everyone will be too busy playing their DS to bother buying one.

Actually, the launch titles for the DS are kinda weak. I mean, really, a dating sim from Sega? The only three with serious names to them are Mario Kart, Tiger Woods, and Madden = but are they even worth coughing up another $40 for just because it's portable? If a couple more of the third parties had their games ready for launch this would be much more exciting.
And as for moms fighting in the aisles, well... every year it's something, right?

Why whine about DS have few games. Have anyone forget? You still can use GameBoy's game to fit this DS! Over 1,000 games. Oh boy...

KID: Mom, I want a Nintendo DS for Christmas.
MOM: What's that?
KID: It's a portable video game machine from Nintendo.
MOM: Don't you already have a Gameboy?
KID: But this has TWO SCREENS!
MOM: You already have a Gameboy. And besides, if I buy you something new, I've got to buy you new games for it.
KID: But it plays Gameboy games too!
MOM: I can't believe you came out of me.

I thought the DS is only supporting GB Advance titles and new DS titles, not older GB games? And just because it can play GBA games doesn't mean it's worth $150.
The fact that there will only be 25 titles for DS within 6 months of release (including third party games) is really kind of pathetic, especially since they are launching right at the holiday season.

Right now I see no indication that quantities will be limited..
Tons of presales on Ebay, its flooded with people selling for under 149.00, heck even Walmart is taking orders...
Sure it will be a big hit for Xmas, but I doubt its going to sell out....
If this were true other sites would be reporting potential shortages....

The Nintendo DS will be launching with Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt and “Picto Chat”, both, which support multi-player with friends. Also be on the look out for Mario DS, which the DS only needs one cartridge for, for multi-player because the DS can download content for multi-player maps from other DS's from Mario DS. Nintendo puts game play before anything else which is good, but Sony tries to cover way too much media to make a decent game like it can play videos who cares about that anyway, just buy a portable DvD player also the movies drain the PSP life (So does the mp3 support). Besides the DS will have its multi-media adapter that allows both the GBA SP and Nintendo DS to play Mpeg-4 movies, SD movies, and play mp3's. Don't believe me? Here is the link:

The DS is a tech monster. It packs almost as much punch as the N64 and better graphics, not to mention WiFi capability and wireless gameplay. It has a long-lasting lithium battery, while the PSP lasts 2 freakin hours. I heard Sony is telling the game developers to use the least amount of the system's capabilities(which probably will be pretty cool) to save battery life. The stylus adds an extra layer of depth and interaction.
