I absolutely hate the design of the Nintendo DS. I hated the Gameboy Advance too, although I liked the original (The one without the backlit screen, shown in pic #5 above). I just wish Nintendo would stick to what they know best, making funky designs. Their silver/hi-tech designs just arent up to scratch.

times change, designs change, live in the past and you will always be disapointed with the future.

DS looks great but im sure it will get a slight redesign over time, they have already said other colours will follow. The existing design is meant to be fairly clean and simple looking. Id say they are trying to appeal to a wide audience and make the DS look as good in the hands of a a guy in a suit as in the hands of a kid in T-Shirt

As for the pics, I had to share the info and knew you guys were the best place to do that ;-)

That's the Advance SP, the 'pro' version of the Advance, and was intro'd after the Advance. =) Though I somewhat agree - IMO the best Gameboy ever was the Gameboy Pocket Light - the Japanese version of the Pocket but with a backlight. w00t!

You people about the look of the system rather than the games?

You could cover the whole thing with those damn pink crystals and I would still play it if it has Metroid Prime, Mario Kart and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles on it.

Personally, I am more interested in how much fun it will be to play rather than how the thing looks.

Did anyone else notice that that in second picture on the site the woman is using it but it's not flipped up. It looks like a Sony Clie UX50 flip-folded.

That could be nice,

Clamshell, it IS flipped up, you just can't make it out very clearly as the top of it blends in with the white background. I know what you mean and I'm sorry to say it just not happening in that pic you linked :(

Frankly, I find the DS unit to be huge. So much for portable gaming. The nice thing about the Gameboy SP is how easy it is to carry, use, and pocket. I agree that the specs are great; I'm just not so keen on the design and implementation of those specs. I find the unit just too big for my tastes.

i havnt really been following this, but is nintendo (or anyone else) planning on doing other things with the wifi like browsing? imagine a linux port and devkit like the ps2 one... any more on wireless IM? what with the touchscreen, i can imagine all kinds of not-quite-games and apps that would be fun and useful. DS as remote control anyone?

Look at that guy in picture 1. Man is he creeping me out. He seems a little too happy to me. His smile makes it look like he is taking a dump right there on stage.

That GUY is Shigeru Miyamoto.
Perhaps one of the most important people in gaming.

That smilin' guy in picture 1 is Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of the Mario, Zelda, DK, and Pikmin franchises. He's executive producer on most current Nintendo titles and the DS is his pet project. I'd say he's earned the right to be eccentric, which he most certainly is.

I doubt I spelled his name right, but thats the guy thats behind so many of nintendos games. He smiles alot because its polite japanese costum to do so, and also he's happy. I know I probably spelled his name wrong, but you get the jist.

I like the new DS with built in stereo speakers. As I'm hard of hearig I can,t wear ear phones due to having an earing aid. So I thought this was great. But then I saw on another site, I hope this was an artist impression as it wasn't half as good as yours. It did not have built in stereo speakers.

i think the ds is an exelent console because it appearance looks more mature(adults can now play whithout been given strange looks i love videogames and i think that if you want to play a game the first thing you must check are the good things the game has and not look for the bad ones because that you will never enjoy a game as i said the ds is exelent and it deserves your money.

Ok... It can be done two ways. By now if youve noticed that the way the SP can flip two ways but one is the right way. Well same for this thing you dont flip it as far back as you can. You flip up it until it clicks and stop there to where its at an angle and it looks like a regular gameboy product. THANK YOU AND GOOD NIGHT
