Climax has released its first offering in Sony's respected series, taking over where Rainbow Studios left off. While ATV racing is certainly a niche genre, the series has always featured accessible gameplay, and Climax has chosen to stick with that precedent. Some slight physics tweaks have been incorporated here and there, but the action is still arcade-based. Graphically, it's an improvement over the last installment, but still displays some muddy textures and choppy frame rate. The ATVs and their riders are well mapped-out though, and there are a load of customizations that can be applied to both. The game also features a well designed online mode, but you may find yourself bogged down in lag depending on the connections of the other players. Although ATV Offroad Fury 3 won't be attracting hordes of new followers, Climax has put together a package that will certainly appeal to fans of the series, improving on the last title without breaking the mold.
