In an unprecedented move, Half-Life 2 will be coming to arcades courtesy of Taito's Type-X
board next summer, with plans for distribution in Japan, followed by (hopefully) a worldwide release. The Type-X will
likely utilize current high-end PC hardware for the project as it's based on the windows version of the game,
including, yes, online multiplayer! Both Battle Mode and Mission Mode (co-op) will take advantage of Taito's "Net Entry
System" allowing players to link up from arcades across the country. No word yet on a control scheme, but Taito is
designing a cockpit style cabinet featuring full 5.1 surround sound. Yeah, we're definitely adding this one to the wish
list…
Half-Life 2 headed to arcades!
