It's hard to find stuff out there that you guys haven't seen. What do you do anyway? Just browse all day long? Don't
you have work to do? I think I found an interesting link for your perusal. The Open Source game community is a
blossoming lifeform. The people who design and develop their own titles are dedicated and crafty. This article on Open
Source game development is a bit on the harsh side, but it gets the brain pumping. It poses the following
question:
"It is clear that building a top-quality game is harder than ever. The amazing amount of work required, the short
schedules, and the need for experts in many domains all combine to make game development one of the most challenging
areas of software development. Will developing a game as open source make things easier?"
It's a fair, and unfair question. Fair, because the community needs to understand fully how tough the business really
is. Unfair, because no one thinks of the word "easy" and the word "develop" in the same sentence. Could Doom 3 be made
in the Open Source community. As it stands, of course not. Does that mean the community can't give us another
Wolfenstein soon?
