A lot of people were distressed over the recent announcement that the upcoming Gran Turismo 4 would have no online
play. Many people see this as a huge issue, some are even saying they won't buy the offline version, (due in the US market mid December),
choosing rather to wait for the online version. Apparently being wrecked by some geek in Tupelo with nothing better to
do than ruin your day is an attractive enough proposition to make some people wait for the, well, let's face it, the
full version.
All, however, may not be lost. If tearing up the race track with folk on the Internet floats your boat, then there may
be a solution. Supposedly, GT4, the offline version, will ship with LAN play. You can use software on your PC to make
the PS2 believe it's on a LAN, when in actual fact, it's playing on the big bad Internet. Since Sony want to maximize
profits on this initial GT4 release, online play is most likely a ways down the road. This solution may fill the void
for those of us who are hardcore Gran Turismo addicts, and keep us ticking over (pun intended) until Sony decide to
grace us with the online portion of the game.
Gran Turismo 4 offline only? Maybe not.
