Does anyone remember an old Atari 2600 game called "Maze Craze"? In it, you played as a cop or
a
robber, represented by the very high tech
display of a colored cube. There were a host of variants to the game, but most of them involved trying to escape a maze
while the dastardly AI, with it's superior numbers, tried to stop you. Complete with marvelous "SQUELCH!" sound
effect when they succeeded.
In a very similar vein, in fact it wouldn't surprise me if it was inspired by it, is the old boardgame "Scotland
Yard". One player is the criminal trying to escape. The rest are the police, trying to stop the bad guy.
Created in Python, and therefore multiplatform, "London Law" is a freeware, online rendition of the boardgame, where
you can play as either the escaping criminal, or the pursuing police. No need for a board. No need for friends. Just an
internet connection, and an install of the Python programming language and a couple of other bits. Joy!
