The Dragon Ball Z franchise has enjoyed a more than successful crossover into the western
mainstream. I remember fondly the days of SNES, when my friend had an imported DBZ game that simply blew us away (even
if we couldn't understand a lick of text). But those days are long behind us now, as DBZ has garnered enough English
speaking fans to create a market for fully localized games.
With Budokai 3, Dimps has definitely upped the ante—although this is certainly not a top tear fighter. Still, DBZ fans
have to appreciate the inclusion of 40 playable characters, an RPG-like story mode, and the Saiyan Overdrive System.
The developers continue to succeed in focusing the look, energy, and speed of the series into a playable (and
enjoyable) gaming experience. If you're browsing for a technically sound fighter, Budokai 3 is not the one, but if
you're a Dragon Ball Z follower, you'll likely fall in love.
