EBGames promised me they would call me when my pre-ordered Nintendo DS was in. I heard they were arriving in the
stores on the 20th. So come the morning of the 21st, I was on the phone. Luckily the thing had, indeed, arrived and I
was on my way to Merry Manhattan to grab her. I had to carry it around for an hour and pretend to listen to my wife's
conversation — but, really, I was already in Marioland.
When I finally got to open the box I was struck by how large the DS is. It certainly seems like something that belongs
in the hands of an adult. I've been wondering for months how Nintendo planned to deal with the millions of returns
after six-year old around the world took stylus to screen, and went to town like the little spazzes they are. Well, it
looks like Nintendo doesn't actually plan on selling the thing to many six year olds. Yes, it's that big. Perhaps it's
my taste for all things small, but the DS will turn a lot of folks off with its mass.
Having said that, I look forward to rubbing in…er, writing about my first gaming experience with Nintendo's new baby.
More tomorrow…
