The "Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility" has started banging
the drum about how bad video games are. (Shame nobody ever seems to campaign about the
quality,
only the
content.) The ratings system isn't fair, or enforced correctly apparently. The ESRB doesn't do it's job properly, and
they can be pressured to give lower ratings. It's the usual nonsense put out by a certain portion of society that want
us all to live in a world with candy and fluffy bunnies, where nothing bad ever happens. Needless to say, the latest
GTA game is explicitly mentioned because you can't go on about the moral decay video games cause without giving
Rockstar some free advertising.
You also can't have a discussion about how morally reprehensible video games are without the ever lovely Senator
Joseph Lieberman having to stick his oar in where it's not wanted. The good senator has, for many years, been a critic
of video games. He says that there are good games. But that some are violent and pornographic.
Now violence, I will grant. Pornographic content though? Can anyone claim to have ever played a video game that was
any more pornographic than your average "R" rated movie? And if so, can they post titles, as I have some shopping to
do. Purely for research purposes you understand. *cough*
Video games are violent, apparently.
