CNN has waved their mainstream hand over the unsavory underworld of gaming, blessing us with its approval of Halo 2.
Sorry for the attitude, but CNN just tends to irritate some of us. Like those of us who remember when it had a
spine.
Nothing too mind-blowing in the review, but it's a good study in how to write for the Big Media. Plain vanilla
statements, and criticism that feels second-guessed and uber-edited. To further use this forum to heckle the site
(I'm just in a mood today, I guess) I found the copy at the top of the review to be odd. I'm not sure if CNN always
writes a disclaimer, but it strikes me as funny that they have the following smack-center at the top of the page:
Editor's Note: The opinions expressed in this column are solely those of Marc Saltzman, a freelance technology
journalist whose reviews also appear on the Gannett News Service.
Could it be that the editors don't want to deal with the wrath of angry gamers, who disagree with the
(wussy) critique? Like I said, CNN used to have a spine.
