Dragon Quest VIII, the latest PS2 only RPG from Square Enix, has sold a staggering 2.2 million copies in
just
two days, becoming one of the companies
fastest selling titles ever. The game was greeted by the kind of madness and retail line up's that are rarely seen
outside of your average Halo 2 release. (In the US anyway.)
Square, who are best known for the Final Fantasy series, have a huge hit on their hands here, in a franchise which was
already second behind only the never ending FF series. It has to be heartening to the Japanese market to see a game do
this well.
The game, known as Dragon Warrior in the US, is expected here next year, but no date has been set yet.
