Crytek and ATI have thrown together a couple of clips that show off what they're working on. Unfortunately, the
title of the demo is "The future of PC gaming, Hollywood style" — another stupid attempt to tie us in with our
deformed, inbred, distant cousin, the film industry. After a banner year like 2004, does anyone truly believe we need
to keep comparing ourselves to Hollywood? Shouldn't it be Hollywood comparing itself to us? Anyway, it's for another
article I suppose. The clips are impressive enough, though they don't come even close to giving us a Hollywood
experience, so I'm not sure what the point of the page is, really. To show off camera movement?
From the link:
""We believe that this demo created for ATI is bringing us all one step closer to Hollywood-quality PC gaming,"
says Jack Mamais of CryTek. The international team that created the critically acclaimed and best selling Far Cry FPS
game, Crytek has created a demo game using their CryENGINE™ that illustrates the future merger of Hollywood and PC
gaming technology."
I just don't get it. What's the allure? What the frickin hell is "Hollywood-quality PC gaming?" Someone enlighten me.
Please. Make the pain go away.
Crytek and ATI think we need to be like Hollywood for some reason
