Early morning lines were significantly shorter for the Nintendo DS launch than they were a week ago when Dragon Quest VIII hit the scene. However, being a normal workday and knowing that Nintendo was providing 500,000 units to Japanese retailers, there was really no rush—plenty of DS's were available to all throughout the day. It will be interesting to see what happens (in just over a week) when the PSP is launched in Japan. Retailers have not been accepting many preorders, and the device will be in short supply.
