A good interview with Ken Troop, lead designer of Dungeons & Dragons Online, has been posted on Filefront. You
can say what you will about the project, but it is definitely bold. Troop says things that may make many D&D fans
tremble. The following, for example:
"But there are certain elements of the game, most notably the turn-based combat system, that we felt just wouldn't
work well in an MMORPG. In cases when preserving the rules would make the end result less fun, we aren't hesitating to
change things. "
Now, it may be scary, but our bet is that he's right. What is D&D without the turn-based, pen and paper approach?
It looks like we're going to find out.
Dungeons & Dragons Online - respect the pen and paper, but don't use it
