This is interesting. Microsoft has poured many, many millions into their tablet PC initiative, with mixed results, at best. So what do you do when a device isn't doing as well as you'd like? You add two teaspoons of games. Arcs of Fire will be a simple title, for simple gamers. But an SDK is being released simultaneously in the hopes of grabbing the attention of the casual game developer. I know there are quite a few devlopers out there who have a tablet lying around the office, and would love to have a reason to use the thing. It's a smart move, in a certain sense. If you want to start a community you may as well make a gesture toward the self-motivated game-maker. But it also strikes us as a desperation move. If the platform were really any good at running games, wouldn't MS have rolled out a more ambitious agenda? Still, its a stylus-controlled device with wireless built in — kind of like another little piece of hardware out there…
