Valve continues their ruthless campaign against cheaters and saps of all varieties. Their latest purge includes 30,000 players who fall into the category of "invalid accounts". The company is keeping close tabs on folks who are trying to sign onto the Steam service and get the game without a valid purchase. There are a number of hacks out there, but Valve seems to be monitoring the backdoor pretty well, so far. 30,000 people is no small number. Our only hope is that they aren't denying valid customers of their opportunity to play, due to an oversight. The developer went after cyber cafes with equal vigor earlier this year, and not without ruffling the feathers of some law-abiding stores. We'll be keeping our eye on this aggressive (and understandable) process.
