Shacknews has posted the results of their user-driven Game of the Year awards. The people have spoken (well, the Shack people) and they have deemed some odd titles best of 2004. Among the head-scratchers (in my opinion) is Half-Life: Source as Best Online Game, beating out the clearly superior Unreal Tournament 2004. Half-Life: Source will be the best online game in 2005 if the mod community explodes. But, for now, nothing beats the depth and action of UT2K4. Other winners include ESPN NFL 2K (31%) over Madden (30%) and Final Fantasy X1, with X-Men Legends running up the rear in the RPG category.
