Black & White 2 dev diary gets into game design

b&w2

Ron Millar of Black & White Studios writes up a storm for Gamespy. His developer diary gets into the nuts and bolts of game design. The Black & White "series" (as it will soon be known) is a bit of an experiemnt in the game design arena. Many people complained that the first game was nothing more than an elaborate pet simulator. While I disagree, I can see where they're coming from. The next installement will adress some of those issues, while (hopefully) keeping the open-ended charm and learning vibe that the original established. Apparently, you'll be able to build cities and armies, which should go a long way toward drawing in RTS fans.

Millar gets into the design tools he's working with, as well as tools he's used over the years. He also captures the magic of sitting down to do the hard work of creating worlds. This is definitely one of those games we'll be pining for this year.
