I think it is one thing to have objectionable material in your own home on your own tv. What happens when you take that out into the world and start playing it in public though? Should you be allowed to watch R (or X) rated movies on the train where some kid next to you can see? What about violent games or movies with foul language? Do you want your kids exposed to someone else's mature content while at the mall?

I think that's a rather empty argument. Sexually explicit and violent content is already easily available in a portable format: Books, magazines, and good old word of mouth. A portable media device, no matter the content, does not add to the "corrupting influences" out in the public, it's all already out there.

If you don't want your children exposed to someone elses immature content, take responsibility yourself to control and educate your children. Don't expect strangers to raise your children the way you want.

Rant done. ^__^

I think your a loser. If a child is being exposed to that then it's their parents fault for letting them run around free. Get a life you loser and quit worrying about kids, they'll get exposed to everything bad eventually. So GET A LIFE!!

I understand there are books out there with things in them that aren't for kids. Most books don't have large glowing screens and stereo sound to draw attention though. Interactive media is prety much in-your-face.

Parents aren't around all the time, not even the best parents.

Great. An intensive 3D game with big maps that needs to constantly load from the disc to keep up. This thing should kill the battery in like 10 minutes.

I think the main thing is common sense. Naturally, there should not be a law against mature games in public, but at the same time, those playing should have the courtesy not to have the volume blasting in public when obsecenities are part of the game. They should also have the courtesy to not let children look over their shoulder if they think the child's parents might object.

I watch R-rated movies on my laptop computer all the time, but when there are children around I tell them they have to check with their parents before they can watch it with me. Just a matter of common sense and common courtesy. Two things that, unfortunately, most people don't have.

*yawn* I played GTA3 already (not a very big fan of the series, though). It would be nice if the PSP had some 'killer apps' that weren't 4 years old and available on another console.

And I wouldn't worry about the corruption of America's youth. Knowing the way the GTAs thrash around inside of Playstations while constantly loading and playing music, the batteries will run out before a child could ever get within range.

Ok. I have some inside information, or as inside information from Playstation in Norway, which I have cloes ties to, can be. It is not a port, but a brand new game, and it is going to be a march launch title. I am no big fan of GTA, but I am a big fan of PSP. The machine is just too sweet. I want to try it some more.

Sony should bring Fantavision to the PSP. It could make great use of the graphics and has lots of explosions to appeal to the kind of person looking for that kind of "mature" content.

Yawn... The portable experience is a different animal from the home console. I need to be able to turn off and turn away from my portable at a moment's notice. This is why i mainly play turn based games on portables.
