A court order will force Sony to pay $27 million per year for violating a patent with their Dual Shock controllers. Immersion Corporation sued Sony and Microsoft a few years back for infringing on certain feedback technology patents they hold. Microsoft settled with some serious dough and by buying up a percentage of the company. Sony did not settle, and now they have to pump money into a company that's 10% owned by one of their biggest competitors. Sure, there are probably dozens of examples of this kind of irony — between these two companies alone. Still, the story makes for a good read.
