The SLI story continues. The path to dual-card rigs has been a pretty odd one. AnandTech does a great job of laying out the history of nVidia's iteration of the tech. Then they hit us with a little surprise. Apparently, the nForce 4 Ultra is an nForce SLI, with the SLI turned off. The only difference is a clipped resistor pad, or two. What this could mean for us consumers with the guts to solder, is cheap(er) SLI. The solution still requires a $140 motherboard. But that's better than a $300 motherboard.
