When I stick my head up outside my Gran
Turismo obsessed hole, I pay attention to the rival, Forza Motorsport. Gran Turismo killer? Maybe. It's got online
play, whereas GT only has lan. Not very good lan from what I've read either. I've read reports of serious issues over 3
players.
Here, for my fellow racers, are some previews for Forza Motorsport. Three times more polygons than Gran Turismo, but
less cars, by about a third. Hmm… So GT has the same amount of polygons, they're just spread over more cars. Yes,
that's it. HAHA! Of course, Forza has a seemingly impressive damage model, whereas GT doesn't, which is just dumb.
Also, Forza's AI, if it lives up to the hype, sounds better. Gran Turismo has Forza beaten on tracks, though. GT has 50
out of the box, without reversed courses. Forza has 31. (Note: The second preview linked spouts the press release
hyperbole of 60 tracks. That is obviously including reversed tracks, which is very cheap marketing ploy. The official
site clearly shows 31.)
Gran Turismo finally has competition. With Forza coming in April, and GT allegedly in March, it's going to be an interesting time to be a fan of racing games.
