Another day, another Electronic Arts story. This time, EA are weighing in on
Take Two's deal with the MLB players association. (NOTE: It's NOT MLB
as first reported a few days ago, it's merely the players association.)
EA's VP of corporate communications has said EA would never have made that deal, and that's it's stupid money.Choice quote: "they are paying an exclusive price for a non-exclusive agreement."
Say what you will about EA, but the man has a point. If this had been a deal with MLB, it would have been good for the company. (If not the consumer.) But it's the players association. A different kettle of fish entirely. And it's not exclusive, as Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are still allowed to do MLB games if I've read it correctly.
While a lot of us are sick of EA's business moves lately, this move by Take Two just seems like petty revenge on EA, rather than a solid business move.
