We got some slack for focusing solely on the mod winner of the Make Something Unreal Contest. Red Orchestra, the
epic mod for UT2K4, pulled in the honors. But there was another major prize awarded, for best movie, as well. The
growing mod-movie movement got some love from Epic/Nvidia, and the winner was a piece called The
Journey.
It's an interesting short. If you can get past the sense that some gunman jacked up on UT-crack is about to leap out
from behind a hill and blow the main character's head off, you can actually get into it. Even if you don't take to the
story, you'll be surprised at what someone can do with a game editor and some free tools.
According to the maker's site, the short has
also shown at some festivals, including the Ottawa Animation Festival.
