Jenseits von Gut und Bose is certainly an interesting title, but not the kind that will move units. Alas, Xenosaga Episode II will never have the crossover appeal of say, Jade Empire. But it's doubtful that that was ever Monolith's intention, or even Namco's expectation. The Xenosaga sequel is built on the quintessential RPG model (and nothing more): turn-based combat with story-driven (cinemas upon cinemas!) gameplay. And this is why a number of critics aren't satisfied…
"Beyond combat, the game play of Xenosaga 2 consists of walking around, breaking some boxes, talking to a few NPCs,
rinse…repeat…and repeat…" (My Gamer)
However, if you enjoyed Episode I and are looking for more of the same Jensiets von Gut und Bose (translation,
please?) will deliver. Otherwise, set your sights elsewhere.
