The news from D.I.C.E. is all good for Epic. The owner of the Unreal series of games is hard at work on the next
generation game engine, Unreal 3. Though it's
been on display since last year's GDC, the abilities of the engine are impressive by today's high standards. Word from
Yahoo Finance (via press release) is that Midway has been wowed enough to secure the tech for their upcoming console
and PC games.
The tools will allow Midway to streamline some of their production process without sacrificing the eye candy. Since
the product promises easy implementation of massively multiplayer features, it's become an attractive proposition for a
lot of publishers out there.
We expect to see many more announcements like this one in the coming months, as development of next-gen console titles
ramps up.
