And when Reggie speaks, Nintendo fans listen. In their latest Nintendo Minute column, IGN interviews Reggie Fils-Aime on the topic of Nintendo's "kiddy" image. So, is Nintendo kiddy, or what? Reggie answered:
Nintendo can't become focused on strictly "adult gamers" just the same way we'll never become kid-centric. We need to hit everyone, and we're proud of our strong brands and creative development teams that are able to craft such a wide range of titles.
It's certainly true that Nintendo is attempting to broaden its fanbase, as evidenced by its recent DS marketing
campaign. But will the twenty-somethings bite? Or will we live to see another console generation where Nintendo is
branded "For Ages 9 and Under?"
NOTE: Anyone who even understands the picture may question my reasons for using it, but I just thought it was
way too funny to pass up.
