When you strip away the ragdoll physics, and
throwing your driver from their car, Flatout is, according to some critics, a merely average racing game.
I guess it depends on how appealing hurling your avatar to his or her doom is. I personally find that thought very
appealing. Losing a race? Then punish your virtual counterpart. Of course, there hasn't been an NTSC release of Flatout
as yet, so I've not had the pleasure.
So sit back and have a cup of tea with Jussi Laakkonen, development director for Bugbear. Some interesting intel on
the physics engine of the game is given. Impressive stuff. Hell, I get all moist over the flying boxes when you blow
stuff up in Mercenaries…
Flatout debuts in NA in Q1 2005. Allegedly.
