The World War 2 action genre looks to be waning a little — which may present the perfect time for a great title to
sneak in. Brothers in Arms looks like it could be that title. A combination of first person action and tactical
shooter, it puts you in the shoes of Sergeant Matt Baker, of the 101st Airborne, before the invasion of Normandy. The
game presents some standard FPS action; but it also requires you to think before you throw yourself, or your men, into
the fray.
The most admirable angle to the game is the dependence on story. The designers got involved in the project because
they wanted to get into what these guys fought for, and why they fought so hard. The developer spent a lot of time with
veterans to get to know them. If that kind of care shows up in the final game, you can be sure it'll be a good
one.
The link will take you to a preview. At the bottom of the preview page is a link to an interview with the designer,
and a downloadable/streamable video of the game in action.
