Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy provides a night of culture - away from the TV screen

Nobuo Uematsu's Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy is a concert series that's wowing the best of us.
The reviews have been consistently glowing, which makes it that much tougher to live somewhere where you can't see it.
Sure, you could travel the globe just to see it (as the reviews keep implying actually happens) but some of us don't
love FF quite that much.
If you've been looking for a reason to go check the concert out in San Francisco this March, look no further. One of
the reviews is from the first performance in the series, while the other is from the third. Please feel free to provide
links to other reviews you've seen.

I was one of the fortunate few to be at that concert. Words cannot truly express how awe inspiring it was. The full orchestra sound completely blows the 8 bit (even the newer 128 bit) sound out of the water. I had goosebumps constantly through the night. Even now just remembering the music still gives me shivers. If you at all have a chance to make it there I recomend that you do. My only disappointment was the lack of an advent children trailer. But I can wait til summer to get the full thing. The best thing that I must describe is that all through the night there was talk of omission of Sephiroth's theme from the line up. Many came just to hear that piece. At the end of the playbill I was thinking how great this was but that it still needed that theme to be complete. They came back for the Encore after a 6 minute standing ovation. The first thing to flash across the screen was the grey haired man himself encompassed by flames. There wasn't a quiet section of the building once the crowd saw that. In fact, it was so loud and lasted long enough that the Chicago Pops nearly lost their place. As I said before if you even have a remote chance of seeing the concert series do all that you can to make it.

This was my second time seeing the concert, as I was one of the fortunate ones to make it to Los Angeles for the first "experimental one". Hands down, it was much better the first time, not only because the Los Angeles Philharmonic is a bit more talented than the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra, but the Advent Children preview wasn't omitted, and the Disney Concert Hall in LA itself is a sight to behold.
That said, this second time was still one of the best nights of my life. I even saw people cosplaying as Shield Soldiers from FF8! If I had the resources, I'd make it to the 3rd one in SF too, but alas those tickets are sold out already. Just gotta wait till it gets to the D.C. area!

That's the link to the second review, my review. It's by the way I titled it the third concert because the first was in Japan, the second was at E3 last year. The third was in Chicago, IL on Feb 19th(The first one of this series going on this year). I wonder why they broke the link to my review? /cry
