digitally rendered girls in swimsuits beating the crap out of each other, is outselling the much vaunted Gran Turismo
4.
What does this tell us? That in Japan, women in swimsuits beating each other senseless are more popular than car
racing, I guess. It's a funny old world.

My first "Big in Japan" experience was the Robert Patton eurobeat song that appeared in Initial D 2nd Stage (the anime) and its accompanying music CD.
Since then, I've heard a song with that title by the Guano Apes as well.

There's more than one right answer to this one. Tom Waits definitely did a song by that title, and I can vividly remember my friends and I watching and commenting about a video from the 80's called Big in Japan, and although the artist's name escapes me, Alphaville sounds familiar. The Tom Waits version is better by most standards, although now I can't get the chorus of the 80's New Wave Big in Japan out of my head. Drat.
