Remember last year, when Microsoft officially disbanded
most of its first-party sports titles? Well, Ubisoft, keen on carving themselves a niche in the
ever-shrinking sports market, has bought up the rights to
NHL Rivals, NFL Fever, NBA Inside Drive, and MLB Inside Pitch. Although there are
two things about this deal that I just can't seem to grasp. One, why would Ubisoft waste any money on purchasing the
rights to obscure and long-forgotten sports franchises? And two, why would they even bother snapping up NFL
Fever and MLB Inside Pitch, considering EA's and Take-Two's recent exclusivity deals?
On a related bit of news, Ubisoft has also revealed that they will be developing a new golf title, and have signed
world champion Vijay Singh to grace the cover, hence the pic. The question is, will EA jump on the bandwagon and drop
Tiger Woods from this year's golf title?
