Here's my take on the Eurogamer article about the next GBA rev.
Overall, Eurogamer has done a good job of cooling down the speculation about the theoretical next-gen GBA. The piece
starts a little awkwardly, as they quote a Nintendo spokesman saying, "There is always speculation on what the next
Game Boy will be, however, at this time there are no announcements about a new Game Boy SP product." Which, of course,
doesn't address the speculation at all. The frenzy is over a next-gen GBA, not an alteration to the SP.
But the article moves on to lay out a convincing case that we should all just take a deep breath. Indeed, why the hell
would the Big N eat their young? Even if the DS is meant to turn into some multimedia/Palm/gaming thingie it doesn't
mean they're abandoning a product, or introducing a new one. All evidence seems to suggest that if there is a new
product coming out at E3, it will be a slight alteration in the SP design and/or functionality.
