Eurogamer is reporting that the 3rd
generation Game Boy Advance will be unveiled at this year's E3. While Nintendo still hasn't made an official
announcement, "insider" sources have confirmed that there are plans to release a remodeled GBA by year's end. The
new GBA would likely incorporate some of the multimedia features provided by devices like the Play-Yan. We may also see the
implementation of a headphone jack, or better yet, wireless connectivity.
The rumor of a new GBA was sparked by a
report released by P.J. McNealy, a technology analyst. McNealy predicted that a new GBA would be introduced in
late 2005, citing four key reasons:
1. Nintendo has averaged a new GBA every 2 years
2. The DS has not hurt GBA sales
3. Piracy concerns call for more secure technology
4. A new GBA would be a ""fun, new device while Sony focuses on the PSP and the expected launch of the Xbox 2"
