Sony must finally be getting over that debilitating holiday hardware shortage, because they've announced that 1,000,000 units of their sexy new gaming device will be on store shelves and ready to sell by Thursday, March 24. 23 days and counting, people! Previously Sony had estimated they would ship 1 million units to North America by March 31, but that many of those wouldn't immediately be available for retail. Now that it looks like Sony has sorted out that manufacturing debacle, it might actually bode well for other parts of the world hoping to see the PSP before autumn. Still, if PSP sales really really exceed expectations, count on them to ignore the rest of the world and focus their efforts on supplying their existing markets. Despite this news, Sony hasn't altered their forecasts of shipping 3 million PSPs before the end of their fiscal year this month.
