Game Informer always gets the top folks in the biz to spill it. This time they strap down Shane Kim, Managing
Director of Microsoft Game Studios and Ken Lobb, Studio Director of Microsoft's Studio RX. The subject? Xbox. Yup,
that's right. The Big Black Box is still in the running; though you wouldn't know it from all the next-gen hype
floating around.
They promise that the first gen hardware still has some goods to give us. There's a lot of marketing babble, some of
it interesting - some of it, wasted seconds that you'll never get back. In fact, here are a few right here:
GI: What do you think of the GameCube so far?
SK: I think that Nintendo is a great company with a proud history. They create great titles for a focused
segment of the market. They're a very worthy competitor for us.
Why did I read his answer as, "I think that Nintendo is history. They made great games for like three or
four wonderful people. They're a very worthy competitor for us…to poop on!"
They also discuss the age-old "problem" of the missing mascot. Master Chief may be cool, but he ain't cuddly. Then
there's the Molyneux apology for Fable. All in all, a good interview by GI.
