Arts and crafts meets 8-bit video game characters

Perler Bead MarioOld people who are paid to study young people (aka trendspotters) say that teens are creating pixel-by-pixel recreations of old-school video game characters with little more than a bunch of colored plastic beads, a board to plug them into, lots of time, and a dangerously hot iron.

Some of the results make for pretty fantastic cubicle kitsch. Check the how-to guide from Insert Credit below. Unfortunately, this craft involves no glue, therefore no fumes. You will need to supply your own mind-altering substances, but at least you're old enough to go out and buy your own now.
