This is a disaster in the making for the industry. I can tell you that the number of games I purchase is going to go way, way down if any of them are costing seventy dollars, and this will reflect a lot of people. Big losses ahead for the whole industry if these predictions are for real.

I remember back when Sega Genesis was still new and Strider was $70. It was supposed to have extra memory or something. Akk!

The easy solution is don't buy any EA titles. :-)

I think I would seriously consider using one of those game rental services (like Netflix for movies) if that happened. What a croc!

Let me translate this:

"Please, mod your consoles, here's some encouragement".

Yea, right. That price point would float for a week. Then, after selling 5 copies, EA would be forced to drop the price and beg for forgiveness.

Seriously though, sooner or later EA sports franchises will be in trouble. I mean how many gamers out there really want a copy of Madden 2003, 2004, 2005 AND 2006? There's only so much differentiation that you can do. Eventually, the market will become saturated.

hahahaahahaa FUCK YOU.

ok honestly though: this is why i'm 3 years behind in consoles. I asked for an xbox + halo 2 for christmas, and afterwards bought KOTR1, max payne, tony hawk underground, and metal gear solid: substance all used for under 50$. I have enough gaming now to last me a year. Unless my next next-gen console does my laundry, I expect to buy one in 2015.

I don't think most games are worth their already high pricetag of $50. I'll be waiting for prices to fall before I jump on this bandwagon.
