Remember that
video we showed you a couple months back, where virtual
objects interacted with real objects on a video screen? Yeah, the title of the post was inaccurate, but the tech was so
impressive we were dumbstruck. See picture.
Now there's another video doing the rounds that shows off how it works. Once again, we see a camera catch a man in
real-time holding a virtual flower, swinging his arms around like a madman to show that the generated image can keep up
with him. You really have to see it to believe it.
The implications of the tech make my head hurt. Strategy games that use every day objects in your living room as part
of the game environment. Can you imagine a Worms game using this tech? How about a stealth game where you have to sneak
up on a room full of soldiers and take them out quietly? Please, make the pain go away…
Eternal optimists hope that this tech will be introduced to gaming in the Nintendo Revolution. Probably not. It just
doesn't look like the product is there yet. Plus, think about the expense of such a setup. But, until the Big N
announces otherwise, keep on dreaming…
