Not to be confused with Nanobreaker,
Nanostray is a top-down forward-scrolling space-shooter (think Ikaruga), scheduled to be released
this summer exclusively for the Nintendo DS. The official site details an ambitious list of features, including
touchscreen weapons controls, ten detailed environments, a myriad of unlockable game modes, and wireless co-op and
head-to-head multiplayer modes.
For the Nintendo DS, Nanostray seems a technical marvel. It only takes one glance at an in-game video to realize that
the DS is quite a bit more powerful than the N64 (though I'm sure the smaller screen doesn't hurt). Developed by the
same studio responsible for Iridion 3D (one of the best-looking games for the GBA), we can likely expect
Nanostray to push the NDS to its graphical limit.
The site mentions one more intriguing feature: the ability to track your scores online and compare them against
players from around the world. However, at the moment it can't be discerned whether the DS will automatically register
your score via the internal WiFi, or whether you'll be forced to enter it in yourself via your archaic keyboard. What
are your thoughts? Deimos Rising ripoff, or must-own in the making?
[thanks, Kamalot!]
