So the GTP mod was released, then pulled within a day due
to First Racing, the company that is the remnants of Papyrus. The company, mentioned here a
couple of days ago, had the mod pulled due to, in part, its
violation of third party copyrights. Those being the car liveries. Yes, apparently even duplicating car liveries from
twenty years ago is not allowed. So according to First Racing, you can't mod their exe, and you can't violate third
party copyrights on tracks or cars. Some folk don't seem to understand the full weight of this announcement. Let me
explain. "Here, have this Champcar mod. It's all fake cars, fake tracks, and uses Cup car physics."
Moving on, GTP has been granted a one time license to release a modified exe file. The mod has now been re-released
with all offending content removed. However, if you'd like a sim that allows you to mod whatever the hell you like
without ridiculous legal threats, I recommend Electronic Arts F1 Challenge, or the older F1 2002. I never thought I'd
see the day I'd recommend an EA product…
