I'm a lunatic for Gran Turismo 4. Since acquiring it, I've played one other game. That being MVP Baseball 2005. GT4
has taken all my time, and I'm in gaming heaven.
Now this review from Next Level Gaming raves about the game, and rightly so in my opinion. However, I have to wonder
if the reviewer did anything other than read the manual. In reviewing the games B-Spec mode, the reviewer states that
you can accelerate time up to 5X. Something which is wrongly stated in the pitiful manual included with the game. The
first thing most people who've tried B-Spec mode have noticed is that you can't actually go beyond 3X.
There are also other spurious bits of information. Racing through the streets of Las Vegas? There's a static photo
mode area, and a quarter mile drag strip that you can't race on. (Only test your cars quarter mile time on your own.)
Misleading, at best. There is also no mention of the flickering glitch that has hit everyone, either. The glitch occurs
when there is a lot on screen. It's quite obviously a sign that the PS2 has been pushed to the limits, as the glitch
almost always stops when one or two of the 5000 polygon cars leave the screen.
Since the internet is transient, I've taken a screenshot of the review, just in case…
