Sega acquire Creative Assembly

Creative Assembly, makers of the excellent Total War series of games, have been bought byrome total war Sega. News of a publishing deal had already leaked, with Sega obtaining the rights to publish the first Total War game for the consoles, Spartan: Total Warrior.

However, Sega went a bit further, coughed up the cash, and bought the company outright. For as little as $30 million if you believe some reports.

This move is the start of Sega making a determined attempt at penetrating the western market, with Creative Assembly being the first western based company that Sega has ever acquired. Official word is Sega have set their sights on "working with the very best talent in the industry."
