The crusade against games continues
North Carolina is jumping on the bandwagon. More political maneuvering on the backs of the game industry; how fun.
This time around City Hall is trying to make game sellers educate the public on the ratings system. Fair enough. They
do that now, as it is, with signage and ID checks. But by putting it in the books as law, vendors would become more
liable if an adult game ends up in a minor's hands.
"If you see the number of hours that young children are watching these video games," co-sponsor Senator Hagan said,
"and then the aggressive behavior that many people feel is very much a direct result of spending time watching these
games — many, many people are crying out for this."
Many, many people are crying out for you to govern, not parent, as well, Senator. Will you listen to them?

Maybe they're aggressive because they're just watching? God knows I can get pretty violent when my buddy won't hand over the controller for half an hour.

How is making the store liable for an adult game in a child's hands even possible? What if one of their parents buys the game for the kid? Is the store supposed to have a representative go to the home of the purchaser to make sure that the child doesn't touch the game? Sheesh!
Here's a thought, why not make the *PARENTS* responsible for what the kid plays? After all, the parents are the ones supposed to be raising the kid.

This is the kind of legislation that senators can flaunt for votes, gives them great press, accomplishes absolutely nothing it's supposed to while producing no hard data, hampers an industry, and generally perpetuates the "system" at the expense of the people on all sides. I have no doubt in my mind that this will pass overwhelmingly, and it sickens me.
