CeBit is being used as a platform to heat up the hype on the next generation of video cards (we should just start
calling them video game cards). ATI has some select details on the R520 Fudo core that will be in their products this
summer. The card lineup will run from 750MHz to 900 MHz, and will support Shader Model 3.0 and 32 bit color precision.
The article says that 3 versions of the R520 will be released in 256MB and 512MB flavors. 512 MB. Insane.
Nvidia, meanwhile, is pumping up their G70 and G80 tech. As usual, they're being secretive about the details, letting
our imaginations run wild. The only thing that's known is that the cards will be 90nm based. Expect to see the Nvidia
offering around September.
