Play too much Pokemon and go to Japan, where you can buy much more Pokemon stuff

Joystiq reader, Kamalot, is kind of like a great boyfriend. He's always there when you need him. That is, if he's a
guy. If he's a girl, then we probably shouldn't be calling her a he.
He sends in the latest on Nintendo's plans for Pokemon. It sounds to us like the kind of promotion they like to throw
before a big game announcement is made.
Nintendo just started a Pokémon competition of brains, skill and speed where you can test your knowledge of
Pokémon against others around the world. The 14 finalists will be flown to Seattle to compete for the championship atop
the Space Needle. The champ gets an all-expense paid trip to Japan! Dust off the Pokédex and get crackin'!

Your probably right - the big game announcement being Pokemon XD - the full length 3D Pokemon RPG for the Gamecube.

How often can playing a game get you a free trip to Seattle or Japan?

This is a promotion to tie in to the U.S. launch of Pokemon Emerald.
Whether or not they will announce a new game at the same time is to be seen, but everything I've read indicates that this is an Emerald-related contest.

The only way you can enter this contest is if you preorder Pokemon Emerald at a store that has the "Pokemon Emerald Tin" preorder bonus kit, like EB or GameStop - you need the little number printed on there.

Not true. There is a big link that says Register. It is fast, easy and free.
http://emerald.pokemon-games.com/battle/register/
Why the giant, red REGISTER button evades people is beyond me.
Death By Kittens @ Dec 18th 2005 8:46PM
Um, yeah, and if you actually CLICK on the "big red register button" it says "Please enter your password found on your Pokemon Emerald tin.. blah blah blah.. if you do not have a password you can always come back later"
Why not clicking a link before making a dumbass statement evades me....

Your comments: Sorry. It does LOOK like you need to have some special code, but you don't. The code is used to access special areas of the site, not for entry into the competition.
I can totally see how it can be confusing. You can still compete without it and get the free trip to Japan.
