First US PSP game save uploaded!
Perhaps it's not the first-ever, but it's the
first time a US PSP game save has been posted at the PSP-Vault—and the first time we've noticed. Unfortunately,
there's no description of the save's contents, only that it's a WipEout Pure file. At any rate, it's a
significant milestone and likely the beginning of an important trend. Ain't it great to share?
[Thanks, Gavin]

Sharing is great!

Wow, so, one person will play through the games, unlock everything, and everyone else will benefit from save files. Genius!
Kamalot @ Dec 18th 2005 9:58PM
I don't see how this is a good thing. Encourage people to 'cheat' by unlocking everything at once?

I too don't see the real thrill in this. Why should developers have any unlockable or hidden content when one can easily download everything?
Steve Goyette @ Dec 18th 2005 9:58PM
Not everyone has your extensive amount of time and money. Also, have you ever FINALLY gotten past a boss only to realize that your save game is corrupted the next time you try and play? That hurts.

hey i think the 'downloadable ' content is not the stuff that you can unlock in the games. well at least i hope not. but on ign they say that for wipeout pure you cand download additional stuff like maps and maybe songs. so this new (if it is) idea will be great. we can keep adding stuff to our games if we ever get bored of the psp games ( probably never) . :)
Lukalicious @ Dec 18th 2005 9:58PM
@ Steve Goyette: What does my post have to do with having a lot of time and money?
And one would obviously have to have *some* money to buy anything PSP, or anything game related for that matter.
Also, you mention that no cute little animals were harmed. What about ugly large animals?! No one ever thinks about them!

Sharing?... this has been done before in the Dreamcast, if you chech some faq sites there are many saved games to download (using the internet in the dreamcast to do it)... i guess it really was ahead of it's time

This is most certainly a good thing.
Suppose you're playing a racing game, and you want to prove to your friend across the country that you really did make the lap in 34.8 seconds. You could save your replay, then transfer it to your PC and E-mail it to a friend so he can see it for himself.
Suppose the next Tony Hawk game comes out for PSP, and they decide to include a skate park editor. You could make your own custom skate parks, then post them on your Web site for others to download and enjoy.
And hey, suppose someone does want to cheat by downloading his friend's saved game that has all the levels and bonuses unlocked? That's his prerogative! People have been doing that for years by taking their memory cards to their friends' houses. This is just a more convenient "Internet age" way of doing it. If you don't want to cheat, then don't download it. No one's forcing you at gunpoint to do so.

There is a big difference between doing this on a personal level and setting up a site to encourage people to download the unlocked content.
Examples given above, showing your friend your ghost race, uploading/downloading custom content/tracks/skate parks is a great idea. Using the site to download a save game file that has everything unlocked is downright dumb.
And, #7, this is different from the content that you can download for Wipeout pure. THAT content should have been put on the disc anyway since there is no reason to have it downloadable except to get you to buy a new memory stick since it won't fit in the default's 32mb.

Wow, I can't believe the responses I'm reading here.
Get a clue guys: NO ONE IS PUTTING A GUN TO YOUR HEAD FORCING YOU TO DOWNLOAD THIS. No one is ruining YOUR precious gameplay experience.
Why do YOU care if someone else wants to unlock levels/cars/etc the easy way? Jesus, what are you guys some sort of video gaming preachers? Thou shalt only game on the one true righteous path!
This is no different than up up down down left right left righ b a b a select start.

This is just members of a community helping each other out. There is nothing wrong with this.

I've started a site (among others) to host the game files. I am currently accepting game files via email pspgames digitalknox com
I'm also posting my own if I've gotten anywhere. So far I've played Dynasty Warrior the most and have unlocked a ton of officers.
