Catawba County's Sen. Austin Allran (R) is sponsoring an anti-solitaire legislation. Yep, Senator Allran is tired of watching the taxpayers' dollars go down the drain, or rather, support the 50,000 or so state owned computers that include standard editions of both solitaire and Mine Sweeper. The good senator has proposed erasing the free game modules, which will in turn save taxpayers millions in "gained productivity". Don't be surprised if Bicycle Playing Cards become the next hot item at the local Wal-Mart.

You'd be surprised. I work in a state office, and some of the people here LITERALLY play solitaire all day. These are salaried positions with full benefits, and (of course) union protection.
This is attacking the problem from the wrong end, of course.

It is attacking it from the wrong end. To take a point from Chris's comment, the problem is union protection. Unions are the last throwback of communism surviving today, and they hinder the growth of every country that has them. To be quite honest, they should be outlawed under the anti-trust laws.
If people are afraid of losing their job for screwing around, they wont screw around. Removing solitaire means they'll move to coding HTML for their home websites, and soon notepad will be outlawed.
You get my point.
